Answer: The temperature at which unsaturated air reaches saturation by lowering its temperature while keeping the water vapor partial pressure constant (i.e. keeping the absolute water content constant) is called dew point. When the temperature drops to the dew point, condensed water droplets will precipitate out of the wet air.
The dew point of wet air is not only related to the temperature, but also to the amount of water content in the wet air. The dew point is high for a large water content, and low for a small water content. Under a certain wet air temperature, the higher the dew point temperature, the greater the water vapor partial pressure in the wet air, and the greater the water vapor content in the wet air. The dew point temperature is important in compressor engineering. For example, when the air compressor outlet temperature is too low, the oil-gas mixture will condense in the oil-gas barrel due to the low temperature, causing the lubricating oil to contain water and affect the lubrication effect. Therefore, when designing the air compressor outlet temperature, it must be ensured that it is not lower than the dew point temperature under the corresponding partial pressure.
